Princeton University Art Museum

Joel Smith, Princeton Ph.D. and Curator of Photography at the Princeton University Art Museum, will provide a special introduction to Starburst: Color Photography in America 1970-1980. The show is the first-ever museum survey of the "New Color Photography" in the 1970s and features 18 artists who fast-forwarded their medium out of its black-and-white past and put it at the center of contemporary art.

Joel will provide an overview of the major artistic themes in the exhibition and be available to answer questions as we explore the works currently on exhibit across various galleries. Read more about the show
here.

Please meet inside the Museum’s main room on the second floor (follow the staircase behind information desk up to the second floor). While our event will end at 8pm, the Museum will remain open until 10pm and we encourage you to explore the galleries at your leisure. Parking is available at metered spaces near Palmer Square and along Nassau Street, or at public parking garages on Chambers, Hullfish, and Wiggins streets. RSVP to Lily Just:

IvyPlus New Year's Eve Party

Let's Party Like it's 1999!

If you're not hiking Kilimanjaro or sipping champagne surf side in the Riviera Maya, join your favorite cognoscenti this New Year's Eve at Triumph Brewing Company in Princeton. We're basically crashing Triumph's party, so if you're looking for something fun to do, a way to share the evening with good company and possibly do a little dancing, come join us on Thursday, December 31st. There will be a DJ and cover is $10 for the evening. We'll gather at 8:30 near the back of the restaurant, on the lower level. It tends to be a bit busy on major holidays like this and we might not necessarily have space roped off. We're opting for no name tags so we don't look like geeks.

If you're interested in attending, let me know; when I have an idea of head count, I can try to get us dedicated space. I will send updates to those that RSVP. Details are as follows:

November Wine Tasting: Discover Your Personal Wine Palate

In Place of our November Happy Hour

Are some wines better than others, or are there only wines that you like and wines that you don’t like? Find out on Nov 13, as Mark Censits, Cornell alum and Proprietor of award-winning wine shop CoolVines, takes you on a tour of your personal wine palate. You’ll taste your way through a broad array of wines of all different styles from all over the world. You’ll learn what “off-dry” means, what tannins taste – or feel – like, what “terroir” is. In short, you’ll learn the major factors that make wines taste different, and begin to identify your own personal wine palate.

Princeton's Triangle Show will be later in the evening! Some of the Princeton Alumni will walk over to the show after this event.

Please arrive as close to 6 as possible, the first glass of wine will be served upon arrival and the program will begin at 6:30.

We will gather from 6-8PM at Princeton's newly constructed Community House, an organization committed to closing the minority achievement gap in Princeton. Community House is located at 58 Prospect Ave and provides programs that bolster early childhood literacy, promote the mastery of fundamental academic skills, and create early awareness of post-secondary opportunities for underserved minority youth. Come enjoy great wine and great food to get the weekend started!
